APS staffers scan and add hundreds of new stamps, sets, and other philatelic items to StampStore's online inventory each day. This members-only service offers more than 300,000 items with total net values of more than $5,000,000.
In February 2009, the net value of the stamps, sets, and other philatelic items available from the American Philatelic Society's online StampStore for the first time reached and passed the $5 million mark - a milestone for this Internet-based service in its ninth year of operation. The combined current Scott catalogue value of all this material is on the order of $8.5 million. An increasing number of APS members have discovered for themselves the convenience and advantages StampStore has to offer those who like to buy and sell stamps. For a minimal listing fee, members can submit their stamps, booklets, and covers and have them professionally scanned and offered online to a discerning and appreciative audience of fellow APS members. As of March 10, StampStore had 319,042 different items available for buyers - an ever-changing number that appears right on the home page whenever buyers visit StampStore <http://www.stampstore.org/> . The listings of these items are searchable by country, stamp type, key word, Scott catalogue number, StampStore ID number, and by several helpful combinations of criteria, including by country and Scott number, by country and stamp type, and by country, stamp type and key word. The intention is to take the struggle out of, and put the enjoyment into, searching for stamps for your collection.
Expertly arranged for easy, convenient access, the more than 300,000 single stamps, sets, booklets, and covers offered at StampStore are shelved in hundreds of binders that facilitate adding new material to the Internet sales site with dispatch, and filling online orders as soon as they are received.
Effective July 1, 2009 the posting fees for items submitted to StampStore will be 10¢ per item. When it was originally established, StampStore posted items at 25¢ per item up to 40 items, or a $10 maximum - a fee structure that has not changed since September 2000. This new 10¢-per-item fee will apply regardless of the item value or the number of items submitted to StampStore. Internet Sales Director Renee Gardner expects that, with the current economic fluctuations, more collectors than ever are likely to make use of StampStore as a secure, highly trusted venue to put their philatelic material for sale on the World Wide Web.
